Falaky Academic Center at the American University in Cairo (AUC)
This project entailed planning the entire Falaky Campus, and simultaneously programming and designing a new Engineering, Computer Science and Performing Arts Building.

The combined space totals approximately 23,000 square meters. The Performing Arts Center features a 300 seats auditorium, an art gallery, a black box theater, a full complement of theatrical/musical support spaces, and both two- and three-dimensional art studios. Wassef Design Group in association with H2L2, an architectural firm based in Philadelphia formed the H2L2/Wassef Team who provided the full Architectural and Engineering design and construction management services to develop their conceptual design and produce the contract documents to include Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical working drawings, and edit specifications.

The assignment included the production of the bill of quantities and bidding documents in addition to the construction management. The goal of this project was to creatively incorporate Arabic culture into a contemporary building. To achieve this H2L2/Wassef incorporated Islamic icons and characteristics to create a superb example of contextual design.
